Clodhopper: Red's Recovery Room Remastered

Clodhopper's Red's Recovery Room has been remastered and is now available for download!

Clodhopper was formed in Missoula, Montana in 1995 by Danny Pearson, and local record store owner Tim Bierman. Together, with a revolving rhythm section which included the husband-wife team Justin and Anne Stark and Montana native Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam, Clodhopper brought its hard driving hillbilly sounds to the local logger bars and punk clubs as well as to theatres and clubs on the West Coast. They opened for such diverse acts as Emmylou Harris, Richard Buckner, 16 Horsepower, and Dave Alvin, endearing themselves with their rough takes on old tunes and harsh ballads played in stark modal tunings.

Red's Recovery Room was recorded during 1996-97 in California and Montana, and though the original CD is currently out of print, a remixed version of the album, along with several bonus tracks is available as a download for $12. (please note, PayPal payments will be made to "Peter Wiggin")

The Oblivion Seeker

Danny's first solo album is mostly a stark, spare and real sounding recording, with cello, piano, double bass, bells and ethereal tape echoes revealing influences that range from Swedish poet Tomas Transtromer to Waylon Jennings and the painter Russel Chatham.

In a departure from his last effort, Clodhopper's Red's Recovery Room, which featured Pearl Jam bass player Jeff Ament and Norah Jones collaborator J.C. Hopkins, Danny played most of the instruments on The Oblivion Seeker himself, with help from cellist Kirk Heydt, Mark Kozelek on guitar and Karry Walker singing harmony. The Oblivion Seeker was recorded and mixed by Tim Mooney at Closer in San Francisco.

A digital version of The Oblivion Seeker is available for download now for $10. (Please note, PayPal payments will be made to "Peter Wiggin".)
